In the last few weeks, Threema has once again provided some news.
At the top of the list are, of course, video calls. A feature that has long been anticipated by the fan community and that Threema is already testing in the beta phase.

A small technical note: Threema takes a slightly different approach than other messengers. As far as we know at the moment, users must first start a “normal” voice call and then manually switch on the video function once the other party has accepted. However, the called party can reject this and leave it as a regular voice call.
Current user numbers:
Wikipedia puts the official number of Threema users at 10 million. Of these, 8 million are private users and 2 million are business users. As of spring 2020.

After Mercedes Benz, Bosch and the Swiss federal government, Threema has probably also convinced the Ministry of Education of Baden-Württemberg. Threema (Threema Work Education) is to become the new messenger for schools, pupils and teachers. In addition to the technical advantages, parents can also communicate securely with their children and teachers. The “private” Threema app is fully compatible with Threema Work Education and Threema Work.
